Our History

The Corry House is named after the Corry family that settled the land in the late 1700's. That same family built the house in 1869, and continues to own the land to this day, ten generations later.

After meeting and marrying in Greenville in 1989, Drs. Bo and Ruby Cheves moved to Bo's family farm in Union Point, Georgia. Here, they began the work of remodeling the 150-year-old farmhouse and surrounding grounds. As their two kids grew older, Bo and Ruby decided to build a new house overlooking the Ogeechee River further back on the property in 2007.

The Beginning

With the help of Erin and Stanton Porter, The Corry House held its first wedding in 2010. At that time, we didn't have our reception barn or the meadow and forest wedding sites. Folks got married in the garden or in front of the farmhouse. After a few years of weddings, Bo and Ruby decided to run with it and built our temperature-controlled barn in 2014.

Ten Years of weddings

Ten years of weddings? More like ten years of constant improvement! We like to think that we are just getting better with age. Vendors and past couples that come back for a visit are always commenting on changes (with just a little bit of jealousy). Our most recent additions include the cabins and the concrete patio off the side of the barn.

Bo & Ruby Cheves

Bo and Ruby Cheves are the owners of The Corry House. After meeting and marrying in Greenville, they returned to Bo’s family farm in 1989. They built their current home over-looking the Ogeechee River and began to host weddings at The Corry House over ten years ago. They continue to be very hands-on by working a third of our weddings.

You can usually find Bo and Ruby out on our hiking trail with their dogs (Bitsy and Huckleberry) or at Home Depot buying supplies for a new project. Ruby is our resident gardener and painter, while Bo is the handyman. They are always working to keep our place beautiful!

Erin & Stanton Porter

If you give us a call, Erin Porter is the voice on the other end of the line. She goes by many titles... booking and event manager, head coordinator, the one with all the answers, boss lady. Erin's husband, Stanton, and their two sons, JP and Thomas, are also integral members of the CH team. The jury is still out on their dog, Max.

When we aren't keeping them busy, Erin and her family are big travelers. But don't worry, she will still answer her phone. She's been known to take calls on the tops of ski slopes. Also if you can't tell by the National Champs picture, Erin's other passion is her Georgia Bulldogs.

Alexis & Becca
Cheves-Cato

Becca grew up in The Corry House, so we aren't lying when we say that we treat this place like our own beloved home. Alexis is the newest member of the team (and family), but she's already bossing the rest of us around like a pro. They are the ones that you can find on the property most often (usually with their dogs in tow).

Alexis is one of our top-rated tour guides and the queen of the lawnmower. Becca is the one writing this (hi!) and is the one that handles our socials, the website, and the cabins. Alexis and Becca live on the property with their dogs - Sawyer, Watson, Millie, and Bennie.
